The Little Mermaid

Originally released: 1989
Current status: Rob Marshall, who previously helmed Mary Poppins Returns, will direct. Additionally, Lin-Manuel Miranda has signed on as a producer and a co-songwriter. He'll work alongside the animated classic's original songwriter, Alan Menken.
Cast: Halle Bailey (Grown-ish) will swim into the role of Ariel and Jonah Hauer-King will play Prince Eric. Melissa McCarthy is in talks to portray Ursula, while Awkwafina, Jacob Tremblay, Daveed Diggs, and Javier Bardem have also been attached to the project.
