The 2016 Oscar nominations came out weeks ago, and there was a slew of priceless reactions. Saoirse Ronan talked about how her mother sobbed tears of joy, and Brie Larson admitted that she was still in utter shock. Making things even more special for certain nominees is that it's their first time ever being nominated for an Oscar. Here are the actors — and a few singers — who are first-time nominees this year!

Sam Smith

After winning a Golden Globe for best original song, Smith's track from Spectre, "Writing's on the Wall," has been nominated yet again.

Mark Rylance

Rylance has caused quite a stir this award season for his portrayal in Bridge of Spies.

Alicia Vikander

After being nominated for two Golden Globes this year, Vikander has received her first Oscar nomination for her supporting role in The Danish Girl.
