Colossus, aka the "CGI Character" introduced in the film's epic opening credits, first appears in Giant-Size X-Men #1, which came out way back in 1975. He's a Russian mutant, and Daniel Cudmore played him in several movies: X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. He looks a little different in Deadpool, no? (For the record, Cudmore was offered the role again, but according to director Tim Miller, he turned it down.) His real name is Piotr "Peter" Rasputin, and he gets his powers (armored skin) when he saves his sister from a runaway tractor. He eventually joins the X-Men, serving under Professor Charles Xavier.
Colossus doesn't actually know Deadpool in the comics, but it's cool to see him show up. Maybe these three can form a supermutant team for the sequel?
