4 Spot-On Similarities Between Freeform's New Show, Guilt, and the Amanda Knox Case

Freeform's Summer lineup is basically one long list of scary stories that you can tell your friends while sitting around a campfire. In addition to returning favorites like Pretty Little Liars, new shows like Dead of Summer and Guilt have especially caught our attention. After a long night of partying with her roommate and friend, Irish student Molly Ryan, Grace leaves their shared apartment to go up on the roof with her French boyfriend, Luc Pascal.

Real life: Amanda Knox was having the time of her life while studying abroad in Italy in the Fall of 2007, where she met and became fast friends with her English roommate, Meredith Kercher. While the two didn't party together on the night before her murder, they did hang out often, attending music festivals together and hitting the town. The night that Meredith was murdered, Amanda claimed she had been with her Italian boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, the whole time.

Guilt: After waking up with Luc on the roof after their night of partying, the pair head back downstairs, where Grace runs into another one of her roommates, who is upset about the mess they made the night before. She then knocks on Molly's door so they can clean up together, but when Molly doesn't answer, Grace walks in to find her friend has been brutally stabbed to death.

Real life: After returning to their shared apartment after spending the night with her boyfriend, Amanda called Meredith on her cell phone but got no answer. After becoming concerned, she called one of the Italian men who lived on the lower level of their shared home. She told him that she had seen blood stains in the bathroom, including a footprint, and they then tried to break down Meredith's bedroom door. When they were unsuccessful, Amanda called police, who didn't want to damage private property by breaking down the door. The Italian roommate's friend eventually kicked it in, and they then discovered Meredith's body, which had multiple stab wounds.
