Season two of Supergirl almost wasn't to be; when CBS took an extralong time to renew the freshman hit starring Melissa Benoist, fans started to worry that the show might be canceled. Then came the sigh of relief — and surprise — when The CW announced that it would be the new home of the DC Comics heroine. Now that Supergirl is officially returning on Monday night, it's time that we can discuss all the details that we know about the upcoming season. Here's the latest!

Tyler Hoechlin Is Playing Superman/Clark Kent

Not only is Supergirl's cousin Superman coming to the show, the man who's also known as Clark Kent will be played by Tyler Hoechlin, whom you probably recognize from Teen Wolf. Superman will pop up in the first two episodes of the season.

It's important to note, once again, that Supergirl will be on The CW this Fall, not CBS (don't forget to update your DVR!). And the second important piece: the show will premiere on Oct. 10 and be on Mondays at 8 p.m., leading into Jane the Virgin.

Chris Wood Will Be a Series Regular

The actor, known for his roles in The Carrie Diaries, The Vampire Diaries, and Containment, will be playing a surprise DC Comics character in the upcoming season. This Year's DC Crossover Will Be Bigger Than Before

Last season, The Flash and Supergirl had a crossover episode, and with them on the same network now, it'll be even easier to facilitate. It'll also be much, much bigger: at this year's Upfronts event, the CW president announced a four-way crossover event for their DC shows, meaning it'll be The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Look for the huger-than-huge mashup in December.
