18 American Horror Story Monsters to Channel This Halloween

There's plenty of messed-up sh*t on American Horror Story, so much so that the amount of shocking moments is quickly approaching astronomical numbers. Most of the credit, of course, goes to the strange monsters that have cropped up from season to season, from the Rubber Man in season one to the Addiction Demon in Hotel. While these creatures and villains may give you nightmares, they're actually perfect fodder for a truly horrifying Halloween costume.

Tate Langdon From Murder House

What to Wear: The most iconic version of Tate is the one who carries out that deadly school shooting. Dress in all black, slick back your hair, and make sure you nail that skull makeup.
How to Act: Cool, calm, collected, and ready to commit murder.

The Infantata From Murder House

What to Wear: This creature wears strange, tattered, almost cobwebby clothes. You'll have to also do some makeup work or get a mask to get that scary, deformed face, the sharp bloody teeth, and the patchy stringy hair.
How to Act: Lurk in the shadows and look for a chance to strike.

What to Wear: You'll have to go to a leather or fetish shop to get that outfit. Sorry. No way around it. If you're really committed to it, though, reach for the stars.
How to Act: Silent and menacing.

What to Wear: You'll definitely need a mask for Bloody Face, who wears a human face when he goes out on the hunt. Make sure you get that stringy wig and wear baggy, bloody clothes to complete the look.
How to Act: You're a crazy psychopath. Be as creepy as possible by stroking your face, hovering too close to people, and, you know, threatening to kill anyone who crosses your path.

What to Wear: Dress like you're going to a funeral, but make it extra fierce. You'll need to figure out those wings, so visit a Halloween store or make your own.
How to Act: You're a harbinger of death, so search constantly for lost souls that are ready to cross to the other side.

What to Wear: Snag some nun gear, then add a demonic edge. Maybe you want to incorporate blood into your outfit, or find some crazy demon contacts.
How to Act: You're putting on an act. Everyone thinks you're just another sister, but you're really trying to corrupt souls and wreak as much havoc as possible.

What to Wear: Get a Santa Claus outfit, then tear it up and make it look a little more rundown. You can add a stringy wig or a weapon to make it extra scary.
How to Act: You're free for the first time in a long time, and you're ready to spread the Christmas cheer . . . by murdering everyone in sight.

What to Wear: You really only need pants and a bull head, and that's about it. Get some broken chains for your arms if you want to look like you've been in captivity for a while, and don't forget to add blood.
How to Act: You're angry and a little rabid. You're also willing to carry out whatever evil deeds your owner deems necessary.

What to Wear: As Fiona Goode herself says, "Wear something . . . black." You're going for the chicest version of a witch you can manage. If you're worried people won't get it, add an opulent, witchy hat to complete the look.
How to Act: You're going to be the next Supreme at all costs. Cast spells and don't take sh*t from anyone.

What to Wear: The most important parts of Papa Legba are the makeup, the red eyes, the hair, and the top hat. Add some more refined, gentlemanly garb that's reminiscent of New Orleans.
How to Act: Don't forget, Papa Legba basically runs Hell in this version of American Horror Story. You're bringing pain and torture wherever you go. Be sure to welcome people to the Underworld accordingly.

What to Wear: Dress in a classic black suit, add a ton of blood, and don't forget that axe.
How to Act: Anywhere there's music, that's where you need to be. And, of course, you'll have to threaten people with that axe.

What to Wear: You know the look: get that rotting corpse aesthetic like you've been dead for a while. Get some ragged, dirty clothes. Make sure you add some rotting-flesh makeup.
How to Act: In this case, you're seeking vengeance. Sway awkwardly in front of your intended victims before you try to rip them to shreds.

What to Wear: Wear the preppiest, most obnoxious rich-person clothes you can find. Make it a little kitschy, with stripes and opulent ties, and perhaps even a cane. Don't forget to get that middle-part hairdo going, and add blood if you want to channel the later, more unhinged version of Dandy.
How to Act: Like a spoiled toddler who's out for blood.

Edward Mordrake From Freak Show

What to Wear: Dress like a true gentleman from the 19th century, complete with a top hat. It might be hard to get the garb down, but you can mix and match from thrift stores, vintage shops, or Halloween stores. You'll have to figure out that second face, too. Perhaps a backwards mask would work?
How to Act: Like the Angel of Death from Asylum, Mordrake comes to bring souls to the other side, specifically those of freaks and misfits. Try to get people to tell you their secrets. Show them your "true" face.

What to Wear: Dress like the most ragged, homeless clown you can manage. One of the most important parts of Twisty is of course the face, so you'll have to do some legwork of your own by chopping up a Halloween mask or painting on some extra gruesome makeup.
How to Act: Twisty can't really speak, but try to reel people in with your clown tricks and threaten to murder anyone who doesn't enjoy the show.

What to Wear: Channel a gentleman from the early 20th century, complete with a mustache and suspenders. Add blood if desired.
How to Act: Make sure you nail that accent, then project an air of being vaguely psychotic, but also sort of aroused at the idea of violence.

What to Wear: We're putting "vampire" in quotes because, as Ryan Murphy has insisted, the characters in Hotel aren't really vampires. They just suffer from an ancient blood disorder, and they need blood to live, and they're also sort of immortal. Anyway, take your pick of who you want to channel, although the opulence of the Countess might be the most recognizable.
How to Act: Cold, calculated, and bloodthirsty.

The Addiction Demon From Hotel

What to Wear: Well, this one's a real doozy. You might want some sort of bodysuit that mimics that skin, and, well, you'll need to go to some pretty strange shops to find that strap-on gear and that drill-bit dildo. It's not impossible to get it together, though.
How to Act: You're looking for people who are about to hit rock bottom, and you're going to take what's yours. We don't really suggest you put your, er, costume to use. But, you know, exuding that energy might be enough.
