The SNL Curse Has Been Broken! 4 Past Nominees Who Should Have Won

This year's Emmys were historic for Saturday Night Live. Kate McKinnon took home the award for outstanding actress in a comedy, breaking a curse that has long plagued the show's cast. Regulars on the show used to stand more of a chance of going home with the gold because of a category called outstanding individual performance in a variety or music program. Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, and Dana Carvey all won the Emmy before it was retired in 2008. Now the cast can only enter in with the rest of the comedies, which is a tough gamble. Here are the actors who have been nominated!

Murphy was nominated in 1983, no big surprise since his original characters like Buckwheat and celebrity impressions of Stevie Wonder and James Brown were huge hits for the show.

Poehler, nominated in 2008 and 2009, will forever be known for being Kaitlyn the hyperactive 10-year-old and her turn as cohost of Weekend Update.

Oh, Kristen Wiig. Always a nominee, never a winner. The actress, who originated so many characters on the show that I can't choose a favorite, was nominated in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012.
