Whereas "Mean Girls" focuses on the ways teenage girls can be, well, mean to each other, "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" is a refreshing look at teenage friendship. Shy Lena, bold Bridget, creative Carmen, and rebellious Tibby have been best friends for literally their entire lives, after their moms met at prenatal classes. Now in high school, they're dreading a summer of being separated from each other. When they discover a magical pair of pants that somehow fits all four of them perfectly, they decide to send the pants back and forth all summer long as a way of staying connected as they deal with family drama, new love, and other unexpected surprises.
