Jeremy Jordan Explains Why He's Taking a Break From Supergirl, and Fans Are Emotional

Warning: spoilers ahead for the Supergirl season three finale.

Supergirl's season three finale was filled with a lot of bittersweet goodbyes, and it has fans feeling pretty emotional. Not only is Chris Wood (Mon-El) leaving the show, but we'll also be seeing a lot less of Jeremy Jordan, who plays Winn, when the superhero series returns next season. As previously reportedly by TVLine, Jordan will no longer be a series regular on the show, and now we finally know why.

Following the season three finale — which sends his character on a journey to the distant future — the actor took to social media to express his immense gratitude to the fans and explain why he decided to take a break from the series. "It's been the adventure of a lifetime, and breathing life into that brilliant, quirky, puppy dog nugget named Winn has been a true joy," he explained. "But lately, my gut has been telling me that I'm once again ready to begin a new chapter in my life . . . and if I've learned anything, it's that you gotta listen to your gut."

While he is taking some time off to return home with his wife, Ashley Spencer, "and focus on crafting the next stage of [his] career," he added that we'll definitely see Winn next season. "This is not goodbye," he continued. "Although you may not see him putting around the DEO every week, I love everyone in National City too much to stay away forever. Winn WILL return in season 4." Phew! We're going to miss seeing his character each week, but we're also excited to see what he has in store next. Perhaps he'll return to his Broadway roots by starring in a musical?! See his full statement ahead, as well as how fans are reacting to his departure.
