Looking For Background Noise While You Clean the House? These TV Shows Are PERFECT
The unfortunate thing about housework is that it never ends. Luckily, there's a way to combat the infinite nature of dust-collecting: with a nearly infinite collection of TV shows to stream on Netflix. When you're stuck inside trying to make your house nice, sometimes it's great to have a stellar TV offering to keep you company. That's why we've collected a handful of series that are great for playing in the background. They're incredible shows that aren't too confusing or convoluted (we're looking at you and all your crazy timelines, Westworld), plus they're just great fun. Naturally, Netflix's catalog is pretty massive, so this is by no means an exhaustive list. But it's certainly a great place to start! Keep reading for a bunch of shows that will make cleaning feel like a breeze.
Queer Eye
Nothing will inspire you work hard like watching five amazing men clean up someone's life. The only downside is that you may start crying at any point while you clean.
The Great British Baking Show
This is one of the purest shows on television, and the sheer camaraderie and positive spirit of the contestants will make all your housework feel like nothing at all.
Schitt's Creek
You guys. Schitt's Creek is so funny. There are already plenty of short, snackable episodes to burn through, the characters are amazing, and you don't need to pay too much attention to figure out what's going on.
Ali Wong: Hard Knock Wife
OK, it's technically not a TV show, but it's a TV special, and I find that stand-up comedy is great to have on in the background while doing any number of things. You don't need to look at the TV (because it's just the comedian pacing around), and you'll laugh through everything!
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
First of all, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is brilliant. Easily one of my favorite shows ever. Second of all, the creative minds behind the show (including star Rachel Bloom) have written over 100 songs over the course of the past three seasons. You'll enjoy yourself AND dance through your chores.
Riverdale
Riverdale is great because it's juicy and fun and doesn't require a whole lot of processing.
Grey's Anatomy
The good news is that there are more than 300 episodes to keep you entertained. It will take you months upon months of housework to get through everything. The downside is that the drama is so intense at times, you might stop what you're doing just to see how it all pans out.
Amy Schumer: The Leather Special
Glee
Glee is really a heavy hitter when it comes to background noise and chores. There are entertaining song covers in every episode that are sure to keep you dancing, plus tons of episodes to bank for many weeks ahead.
Nailed It
It's like Great British Baking Show, but it has a much different effect. If you feel like you're doing a sloppy job, nothing will pick you up like the epic failures of these bakers.
Jessica Jones
You know what will really light a fire under your ass and inspire you to get to work? The ass-kicking prowess of one Jessica Jones.
Maria Bamford: Old Baby
Supernatural
Supernatural has well over 300 episodes that follow a pretty consistent formula: terrible monster/demon/creature appears, Sam and Dean Winchester investigate, a life-threatening battle ensues, and sweet victory is obtained. Perfect show is perfect.
The Office
The Office is great comedy in a pretty static space, meaning you'll laugh a lot and you won't have to look at the TV too much.
Friends
Come on, we had to include Friends. If you've always wanted to watch, this is the perfect way to marry necessary chores with a necessary life experience.
