The 9 Major Characters Who Don't Make It Out of Westworld's Season 2 Finale Alive

Westworld's season two finale is a relentless, blood-spattered sprint to the finish line, with plenty of shocking moments sprinkled throughout. Not only is there a wild postcredits scene that teases a major change for the Man in Black's future on the show, but there are also the brutal demises of a handful of important characters. While not all of their "deaths" are written in stone — after all, Dolores tells Bernard that anyone can be revived as long as someone remembers them — we wouldn't be surprised if a few of them are gone for good. To help you emotionally prepare for season three, I've gone ahead and rounded up everyone you need to bid adieu.

Warning: serious spoilers for the finale ahead!

01
Maeve Millay
HBO

Maeve Millay

Let's start out with the most crushing demise, shall we? Maeve (Thandie Newton) manages to ensure her daughter makes it inside the Forge by holding off a vicious horde of bloodthirsty robots, before eventually succumbing to a few gunshots from Delos security. I have to believe that Maeve and her biting one-liners will be back in season three, otherwise I'll be forced to storm HBO headquarters à la the Westworld hosts.

02
Lee Sizemore
HBO

Lee Sizemore

If you'd asked me at the start of the season whether or not I cared about the future of Lee (Simon Quarterman), I would've given you a big ol' NOPE. But multiple episodes full of nude scenes and character growth later, I had the biggest soft spot for Westworld's Narrative and Design head. Although his death is pretty sad, at least he goes out in a blaze of glory while saving Maeve and Hector.

03
Hector Escaton
HBO

Hector Escaton

After getting Maeve to the Forge in one piece, Hector (Rodrigo Santoro) ultimately gets overtaken by the rage-zombie hosts Clementine lets loose on the park.

04
Armistice
HBO

Armistice

The same fate befalls badass Armistice (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal) as she fights off the massive tide of murderous hosts.

05
Akecheta
HBO

Akecheta

Akecheta (Zahn McClarnon) is one of the lucky few who escapes to the Forge's virtual paradise. So, does he die for real? His corporeal form does, technically, but his "soul" will live on.

06
Clementine Pennyfeather
HBO

Clementine Pennyfeather

Poor Clementine (Angela Sarafyan) is forced into being a rage-virus-spreading puppet for Delos earlier on in the finale, so when Armistice finally takes her out with a few bullets, it comes as a relief.

07
Elsie Hughes
HBO

Elsie Hughes

Oh, Elsie (Shannon Woodward). The scientist's pure intentions end up getting her murdered in the end when Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) ruthlessly shoots her in the chest after realizing that Elsie will never be able to keep Delos's big, fat, nasty secret.

08
Charlotte Hale
HBO

Charlotte Hale

I have to say — I expected Charlotte to die in the season two finale, but I was not prepared for the shocking way it actually goes down. After Bernard witnesses Charlotte kill Elsie in cold blood, he sets a plan into motion that involves creating a host replica of Charlotte. That host then shoots her original human likeness in the head. Bye, bye, Charlotte.

09
Dolores Abernathy
HBO

Dolores Abernathy

Just kidding! Charlotte's likeness will live on . . . physically, at least. Bernard ends up shooting Dolores in the finale when he realizes that her obsession with power has gone too far but later decides to revive her by uploading her consciousness into the Charlotte host. Dolores/Charlotte (Dolorlotte? Charlores?) is then able to escape the park and enter the real world because she's in Charlotte's body.

At the end of the finale, we see that Dolores has made a replica of her former blonde host body and is back to her old self. Charlotte is with her, though it's not clear who is inside her brain now that Dolores has vacated the premises.
