Ellen DeGeneres Just Announced Her First-Ever Netflix Stand-Up Special!

It's been more than 15 years since Ellen DeGeneres did stand-up comedy, but she's back! Ellen shared the exciting announcement with her audience during the season 16 premiere of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, revealing that she not only has a Netflix special coming out, but also that it has an upcoming premiere date: Dec. 18. Ellen's special — her first one on Netflix — is entitled Relatable, and it's a taping of a set that she performed at Seattle's Benaroya Hall over the Summer.

Ellen said, "I mentioned that I worked a lot over the Summer. What I did was I went back to stand-up. I didn't do stand-up for 15 years, and I just all of a sudden was like, 'I miss stand-up. I want to do it.' So I made a deal with Netflix, and I was working on stand-up all Summer. I taped it in Seattle. It was so much fun. I loved it so much. The audiences were great, Seattle was great. Thank you everybody in San Francisco and San Diego."

Needless to say, fans are freaking the hell out. Watch Ellen's announcement, and be sure to set a calendar reminder for the third Tuesday in December, because this is going to be good.
