Hugh Jackman's Emotional Tribute to "Creative Genius" Stan Lee Will Make You Sob

The world shone a little less bright when Stan Lee passed away on Monday morning, and his Marvel family wasted no time sharing their sympathies regarding his passing and their favorite memories with the comics legend. One of those stars in question was Hugh Jackman. During a stop on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the Wolverine actor took a moment to share some kind words about Lee, calling him "a true gentleman" and "creative genius." "He changed the lives of many people, mine included," Jackman said. Stephen Colbert also shared one of his favorite memories with Lee, adding, "Thanks for all the great stories, Stan, and I know you're hearing this a lot today, but excelsior!"

Jackman is best known for his role as Wolverine in the X-Men films, which were based on Lee and Marvel cocreater Jack Kirby's comics. Shortly after the news of Lee's passing broke, the actor posted a snap of him and Lee on Instagram, writing, "We've lost a creative genius. Stan Lee was a pioneering force in the superhero universe. I'm proud to have been a small part of his legacy and .... to have helped bring one of his characters to life."
