While "Gilmore Girls" isn't a musical show, it shares a commitment to developing relationships and friendships with "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist." Much of the series takes place at Zoey's workplace, but much of it is also about her family, especially her relationship with her mother (Mary Steenburgen) and her ailing father (Peter Gallagher). And Zoey's also in a bit of a love triangle with her colleagues Max and Simon, although the drama is friendly and tame compared with Rory's tumultuous situation with Jess and Dean.
