10 Terrifying Films Only Fans of The Haunting of Hill House Can Handle

Another horror cult classic, this 1979 flick (and inferior 2005 remake) is based on the book by Jay Anson and inspired by the purportedly true experiences of the Lutz family. In the movie, a couple decides to purchase a large Dutch colonial in the Long Island neighborhood of Amityville, NY, significantly discounted after the former tenant shot six members of his family there 13 months before. As you can expect, paranormal creepiness ensues, and the family must enlist the help of a priest to rid the place of evil spirits.
