Jessica Jones Season 3 Ended With a Bang, and Here's What You Need to Remember

Jessica never signed up to be a hero, but she'll be damned if she betrays the people that she loves (even if they happen to kill her mother). After a car crash took away Jessica's biological family, Trish becomes her adoptive sister and the only person she truly cares about. When Trish grows addicted to revenge and bloodlust, Jessica protects her. Jessica even hides her sister when she claws this season's deranged serial murderer, Gregory Sallinger, to a bloody pulp after he kills Dorothy, Trish's mother.

But things take a turn when Jessica figures out that Trish has killed a corrupt cop and an arsonist. Even when Sallinger is in jail, Trish tracks him down and murders him in her ragtag vigilante mask. Jessica then gets an unexpected visit from Luke Cage, who tells her why he sent his brother to the Raft, aka the underwater prison for superpeople.

Jessica alerts the media that Trish has killed three people as the masked vigilante. When Jeri's buddy tries to smuggle Trish out of the country, Jessica tracks her sister down and defeats her once and for all.

Season three is really Trish's. Trish starts out the season by cornering Jeri's shady clients. Small stuff. Things take a turn when Sallinger kills her mother. Through her grief and anger, Trish grabs a reluctant Erik to find bad guys and resorts to full-blown murder, tallying up three deaths.

When Trish threatens Kith, Jeri arranges to help her flee the country with a shady guy who ships coffins. But Jessica, with Erik and Malcolm's help, tracks her sister down. Trish lands in custody, where Costa reads her the charges against her. Jessica sees Trish off from afar when she's about to leave for the Raft. It's a heartbreaking moment, considering what they've been through together.

Dying from ALS, Jeri has gone through a crisis of her own. She navigates this crisis by tracking down her college sweetheart Kith and even defending Sallinger despite everyone telling her not to do it. Anyway, she helps Kith deal with her late husband's legal troubles. For better or for worse, Trish terrorizes Demetri Patseras, the man driving the lawsuit against Kith's family. But even when the case resolves, Jeri doesn't get to be together with her soulmate, who rejects her. In a moment of closure, Jeri says that Kith will be the last mistake she'll ever make.

Malcolm had it all for a moment, working a steady job with Jeri and finding love with Zaya. But Jeri's defense for a mass murderer crosses the line for him, so he quits (slash gets fired). He ends up helping Erik's sister Berry, and a brief moment of indiscretion with her contributes to his relationship with Zaya further fraying. They break up, and when retrieving her things, Zaya sees Berry. Awkward.

But it's not all shambles for Malcolm. Jessica hands him the keys to Alias Investigations just before she sets off for Mexico. We don't think he'll be helming Alias alone for too long, though.

Erik, the human evil detector, doesn't quite make things work with Jessica because she can't trust him. But she has enough faith in him to set him up with Detective Costa, who can probably use someone like Erik to sniff out crime. Erik and Costa meet at a bar, where Erik points out a shady guy in a red sweater. We can assume that this won't be the last of their alliance.

Suffice to say, things are rough for Jessica. She's desperate to leave her baddie-kicking and private investigator days behind after losing her mother, Trish, and Dorothy. When Jessica's about to book a one-way ticket to Texas to get to Mexico, Kilgrave's voice taunts her to give up. Jessica doesn't take the ticket, the series aptly closing with Le Tigre's "Keep on Livin.'"
