What I'm Listening To This Week: Mahalia, The Highwomen, and Post Malone (Don't @ Me)

In this edition of What I'm Listening to This Week, I'm letting the sweet sounds of Mahalia take me away from, well, everything. I'm also yee-ing and haw-ing to The Highwomen's debut album and have finally given in to the musical stylings of Post Malone (sigh). Here's what you should slam the play button on this week, and why.

Hollywood's Bleeding by Post Malone

Hollywood's Bleeding by Post Malone

I've written here previously about loving Post Malone's "Goodbyes", and the rest of Hollywood's Bleeding is just as interesting to listen to. I have to hand it to Malone (Post?) and his ability to cross a handful of genres on one project. In conclusion: yes, I f*ck with this album and no, I'm not open to discussing it any further.

Standout track: "Take What You Want," because I was definitely not expecting Ozzy Osbourne to snap so hard in the year 2019.

"YES" by Fat Joe, Cardi B, and Anuel AA

Whew, this track is just an all-around joy to twerk around the apartment to. I also highly recommend listening to it on a run; the second Cardi jumps in, you know you're in for it.

The Highwomen by The Highwomen

The debut album from this country-folk supergroup — consisting of Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris, and Amanda Shires — is a real delight. Whether or not the genre is your favorite, you'll love hearing these gorgeous voices together.

Standout track: "Old Soul," because it's a gorgeous reflection on being "the responsible one."

Love and Compromise by Mahalia

Love and Compromise by Mahalia

The 21-year-old alt R&B-soul singer hails from the UK, and her voice? Like butter. The up-tempo "Simmer" featuring Burna Boy will have your hips twisting, and "What You Did" is a sort of reverse "The Boy Is Mine" featuring fellow songstress Ella Mai.

Standout track: "I Wish I Missed My Ex," for reasons you can probably guess.
