A Running Tally of Everyone Who's Died on American Horror Story: 1984 So Far

If there's anything American Horror Story: 1984 is good for, it's giving fans a good dose of gory death along with a million questions. While we're trying to figure out exactly what the heck is going down at Camp Redwood over the course of what seems like just one night, characters are dropping like flies. Whenever the sun chooses to rise again, the cleanup is definitely going to be a b*tch. We've rounded up the biggest deaths of the season so far — leaving out some inconsequential ones like those pesky Mr. Jingles impersonators. Check out our tally of 1984's casualties, and make sure to check back, since we'll definitely be updating this weekly.

Ed, the Mechanic
FX

Ed, the Mechanic

Poor Ed. He tried to warn those crazy kids that Camp Redwood was nothing but trouble! Sadly, he meets his end thanks to Mr. Jingles, getting crushed underneath a car in his garage. Bummer.

Jonas "The Hiker"
FX

Jonas "The Hiker"

We meet Jonas in the first episode of 1984, and he's our first real clue that something at Camp Redwood is wonky — supernaturally wonky. He seems to have amnesia and a bad habit of saying vaguely creepy things that freak everyone out. And there's his weird little quirk of not staying dead. It's enough to unnerve the Night Stalker into seeking answers from Margaret, which is how we learn that Jonas is a ghost! He was a camp counselor during the 1970 massacre and tried to run, getting killed by who he assumes was Mr. Jingles. Now, he wanders the grounds of the camp, perpetually living out his last night on Earth, running from Mr. Jingles.

Dr. Karen Hopper
FX

Dr. Karen Hopper

The good doctor meets her end while trying to deliver a note of warning to the folks at Camp Redwood. She meets with Margaret and reveals that Mr. Jingles has escaped the mental hospital to return to the camp, but the younger woman refuses to stop her reopening. (And seems suspiciously unbothered by the news, I might add!) As Dr. Karen attempts to leave the camp, she's cornered by her former patient, Mr. Jingles himself, who quickly butchers her without apology.

Blake
FX

Blake

Blake, the superskeevy producer who attempts to get Xavier to return to star in porn videos, gets an appropriately pervy demise. Xavier suggests that Blake check out Trevor (Matthew Morrison), a camp activities director who's known for having a d*ck too large for Jane Fonda's workout videos (yep, you read that correctly). As Blake gets an eyeful watching Trevor shower through a peephole, Mr. Jingles puts a nail through his eyeball, killing him instantly. At least he goes out staring at what he calls "an act of God."

Nurse Rita (the Real One)
FX

Nurse Rita (the Real One)

If the real Nurse Rita was still with us, she would definitely rue the day she took the job at Camp Redwood. In episode three, we find out that Angelica Ross's Nurse Rita is actually a sadistic psychologist who set all this in motion when she broke Mr. Jingles out to observe him in his "natural habitat." Montana, Trevor, and Xavier learn the truth about "Rita" when they find the real nurse Rita tied up in the boat house. Though they attempt to keep her safe, she runs away from them and straight into the path of Mr. Jingles, who immediately murders her.

Ray
FX

Ray

Somehow, in the same area as two (or possibly three) serial killers, Ray manages to look like the biggest dirtbag of them all in the episode of his death. He attempts to leave people for dead three times — one of those times is literally right after Chet has saved his life. His constant cowardliness makes it hard to feel bad when Mr. Jingles lops his head clean off his shoulders as he tries to flee the camp. Luckily for him, he returns in the form of a ghost, just like Jonas.

Bertie
FX

Bertie

Bertie didn't have to go out like this! When Xavier tries to warn the camp chef that there are killers on the loose, they're interrupted by Mr. Jingles. Xavier hides as Bertie offers the serial killer a peanut butter sandwich, but their conversation is cut short when Jingles catches Xavier trying to escape. In anger, he stabs Bertie several times and leaves the younger man to burn in the kitchen's oven. Bertie uses her last bit of strength to get Xavier out, and forces him to repay the favor by putting her out of her misery and plunging a knife into her chest.

Xavier's Movie Career
FX

Xavier's Movie Career

No shade, but unless the weird magic of the camp works for Xavier's skin, that burnt look is going to be hard to pull off when he goes for auditions. That is, if he makes it long enough to get out of Camp Redwood.

Mr. Jingles
FX

Mr. Jingles

The big bad himself gets a dose of his own medicine when he finally comes across the woman he's been looking for this whole time — Margaret Booth. He corners her in her cabin, but she turns the tables by revealing the truth of what happened that night in 1970. When he attempts to kill her, she shoots him several times. He probably didn't die from the gunshots, since he's shown running away later on, but a part of him definitely died after learning all the murders he committed were for nothing.

Trevor
FX

Trevor

Despite being a little gross, Trevor was one of the few good guys at Camp Redwood. The activities director continually rallied against the seemingly unbeatable odds to get everyone to safety, and he refused to let Bertie and Margaret be left behind. Sadly, his thoughtfulness is exactly what got him killed. Margaret, fresh from thinking she's murdered Mr. Jingles, stabs Trevor and cuts off his ear to make everyone believe the serial killer did it.

Richard Ramirez
FX

Richard Ramirez

The Night Stalker meets his match in Mr. Jingles, but his "death" gives viewers some clues into what exactly is going down at Camp Redwood. When the two killers finally meet in episode four, Richard tells Jingles that the blood he has spilled on the camp is "eternal" and that however you split it, Jingles' name will live on forever. The two engage in a bloody battle, that Jingles wins by impaling Richard on a tree.

In a supernatural twist of fate, Richard is resurrected at the end of the episode through what looks like Satanic means. His eyes are completely black and whisperings of Satan's name can be heard as he's levitated from the ground. His wounds completely close up and, in the end, he stands on his own two feet completely unscathed. Looks like the Devil has more plans on him after all.

Chet
FX

Chet

Chet may have cheated himself out of going to the Olympics by taking drugs right before being selected, but he didn't deserve to go out so cruelly! After risking his neck to say Ray from Richard, falling into a pit and getting impaled by a wooden stake, and being shoved around like a sack of potatoes by everyone else, Chet is murdered by the seriously insane Camp Redwood owner. Margaret takes him out on the lake under the pretense of getting help from the people on the other side, then stabs knocks him out with the oar and throws him overboard with an anchor around his legs so he can't resurface. Since his body is left in the lake, we're not sure if Chet will return like the other people who have died at Camp Redwood.

Mr. Jingles (For Real This Time)
FX

Mr. Jingles (For Real This Time)

After Jingles let's Donna run away to live out her days with the knowledge of the destruction she wrecked by letting him loose, he corners Margaret again. He's close to choking her to death when Xavier takes him down with several well-shot arrows. Rather than becoming a ghost like the rest of the Camp Redwood victims, Jingles is supposedly resurrected by Satan thanks to Richard.

Xavier
FX

Xavier

Guess he won't have to worry about his acting career anymore! Xavier meets his end after he rushes in to save Margaret from the enraged Mr. Jingles. When he goes in to check on her, she takes him down and stabs him in the chest, taking an ear with her to continue her crusade of framing Jingles for her misdeeds. His ghost appears at the end, along with Ray and Montana.

Montana
FX

Montana

The aerobics teacher finally gets her revenge on Brooke, but it's not the way she intended. When Montana finally grabs her chance to attack the other woman, it leads to an all-out battle throughout the night. Brooke gains the upper hand and stabs Montana in the chest several times — just in time for a bus filled with kids to arrive at the camp. Margaret uses the chaos and the witnesses to pin all the murders on Brooke, who is taken away in handcuffs at the end of the episode. Montana's ghost rises up to wreck havoc along with Xavier, Ray, and whoever else still "lives" at the camp.
