The Lizzie McGuire Reboot Cast Has Been Announced, but a Few Key Players Are Missing

The Lizzie McGuire reboot is coming together, and we finally have a cast! The entire McGuire family will return for the reboot, which picks up more than 15 years after The Lizzie McGuire Movie to catch up with a 30-year-old Lizzie and, apparently, her entire family! The new comedy is set to air on the newly-formed Disney+ as part of its huge slate of nostalgia-packed offerings. An exact premiere date hasn't been set yet, but it's likely to debut sometime in 2020. While the full cast has yet to be confirmed — no, there's no sight of Miranda, Gordo, or grown-up popular girl Kate Sanders yet — keep reading to find out which major players are signed on so far.

Hilary Duff as Lizzie McGuire

Duff will return to anchor the show as Lizzie, now a 30-year-old designer's assistant in New York. As a teenager, Duff starred in teen flicks like Agent Cody Banks, Cheaper by the Dozen, and A Cinderella Story. She also began a music career, releasing five studio albums over a handful of years.

In 2015, Duff returned to TV full-time, playing ambitious editor Kelsey Peters on the TVLand comedy Younger, starring opposite Sutton Foster as Liza. She's set to return for season seven; word is that the Lizzie McGuire reboot will not interfere with her filming schedule for Younger or vice versa.

Thomas is reprising his role as Lizzie's little brother Matt, who has (presumably) outgrown his days as an annoying prankster. In his immediate post-Lizzie McGuire days, he had roles on other Disney shows such as Cory in the House. As an adult, he's focused on mostly guest roles on TV shows. His most recent project was the comedy Baja.

Todd, who plays the tough but fair McGuire mom Jo, has kept a lower profile since the series wrapped. She's wrote a pair of books: Being Young Actors and Parenting the Young Actor. On screen, she continues to be a geek icon thanks to her role as Data's daughter Lal on Star Trek: The Next Generation, but she hasn't had any major roles in a few years.

Robert Carradine as Sam McGuire

Carradine's Sam McGuire was pretty much the perfect example of the goofy mid-2000s Disney Channel dad. He's been acting since he was a teenager (and he comes from a big acting family), and his first role was on the legendary Western TV series Bonanza. Most fans will recognize him from 1984's Revenge of the Nerds as "leader" of the nerds, Lewis Skolnick. Carradine continues to work in the film industry, both as an actor and as a producer. He was involved in a car crash in 2015 but has since recovered completely.
