From "The Little Mermaid" to "Moana," Here Are All the Disney Live-Action Remakes

Deadline reported back in 2019 that "Hunchback," a live-action version of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," was in the works, with new music from Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. The new movie would draw more on Victor Hugo's original novel. There haven't been any updates since then, though in March 2023, a fake movie poster that claimed Josh Gad had been cast as the character went viral. Gad shared it on Instagram and confirmed it wasn't real — but that the script exists.

"Love that you guys all want this," he wrote in part. "We do to! The script is one of the best I have read and hopefully the powers that be will see this love and let us make the live action adaptation the original animated film deserves."
