Here Are All of The Haunting of Bly Manor's Scariest Moments — Good Luck Sleeping Tonight

Sometimes I lie awake at night wondering if the Bent Neck Lady from The Haunting of Hill House will be hovering above me the minute I close my eyes. While The Haunting of Bly Manor does include a lot of Easter eggs calling back to the original series, it's far more of a gothic love story than it is a ghost story, as Flora would put it. The jump scares in Bly Manor are few and far between, but they're used to tell the story of Peter, Rebecca, Viola, Perdita, and all the other ghosts at the manor in a way that's just as poetic as they are spooky.

Of course, there are still plenty of hidden ghosts in otherwise innocent scenes, and a few haunting moments that still have me reeling whenever I think about them. For the benefit of your sleep schedule, I've gone through each episode and compiled a list of all the show's creepiest moments to keep an eye out for, or to skip over, totally up to you. Check out all of The Haunting of Bly Manor's scariest scenes ahead, and be sure to keep an eye out for the Lady in the Lake.

  • 4:44 — Dani goes downstairs to get Flora's doll from the laundry room. Nothing jumps out at her, but the doll is sitting in the center of the room as if it had been propped up by someone.
  • The episode focuses heavily on Miles's time at boarding school, during which he falls out of a tall tree (13:10) after being warned several times not to climb any further, chokes one of his classmates (15:00), and kills a bird (19:55) in search of its "key." This behavior could be explained by Flora's ominous "come home" note, which might have encouraged him to be sent home.
  • 32:20 — Miles pulls Dani aside to give her a bouquet of flowers he tore out of Jamie's garden as an apology for locking her in the closet the previous night. Episode 4: The Way It Came

  • This episode focuses heavily on Dani's backstory and gives insight into Edmund, aka the Man in the Mirror. Flora awakens to see Dani's doll out of bed in her dollhouse and alerts Miles.
