Yay, David! 10 Timeless Moments Between Alexis and David on Schitt's Creek

I may not always relate with Alexis's nightmarishly ridiculous hijinks, Moira's over-the-top fashion sense, or the uber-luxurious lives lead by the Roses before their Schitt's Creek days, but having two siblings, I can definitely see myself in the love-hate relationship of the sibling-duo – David and Alexis. Portrayed by Dan Levy and Annie Murphy, these two can get on each other's nerves pretty easily yet always have each other's back in times of need. From engaging in petty bickering and hilarious verbal spar matches to giving each other timely reality checks to being one another's biggest cheerleaders and critics – these two have made immense personal and interpersonal strides over the course of six seasons. Read ahead to find the best David and Alexis – or Alex and Davis, depending on who you ask – moments from the show that are flawlessly timeless in my opinion.

When They Both Take a Selfish (Season 1, Episode 1)

When spoiled rich brats of the Rose family, namely Alexis and David, are forced to share one room in Schitt's Creek in a seemingly shady motel, they both want the bed farther away from the door, just in case if someone were to break into their room and murder them. It's hilarious to see it all pan out as they petulantly push Alexis's bag back and forth from one bed to another, saying, "You get murdered first!" A rather apt representation of their former self-centered lives.

When the Gem “Ew, David” is Dropped for the First Time (Season 1, Episode 8)

When roped into the Allez Vous pyramid scheme, Moira and David try to make the most of it by luring the town's people into buying it with a painfully scripted exchange. Hilarity ensues when, in the spirit of things, a sunless bronze-faced David unironically suggests Alexis try the anti-aging products. Her candid response of "Ew, David!" as her mouth is half-full with food is, hands down, one of the most iconic moments of the show.

When Alexis Catches David Red-handed (Season 2, Episode 2)

Let me tell you first-hand, keeping your sibling away from your food is a massive challenge, one that takes elaborate plotting and plan-devising to keep it out of their sight. When Alexis gets back from her run and finds her yogurt gone, again, she catches David dead to rights, eliciting her to call him a "dirty, little raccoon" in her patented sing-song Alexis accent. However, it's a two-way street, as we later see Alexis picking through David's cake, leaving behind icing like a person "raised in a barnyard."

When Alexis Teaches David to Ride a Bike (Season 2, Episode 4)

This right here is a small yet perfect example of how unusually bizarre Alexis and David's childhood was growing up. When Mutt gifts Alexis a bike to fill in the void that her spin classes have left, her reaction is incredibly priceless. Funnily enough, with the help of Twyla's curt learning technique, Alexis quickly finds her feet and takes it upon herself to pass the skill on to David. Seeing David do some paddling on his own, the Roses, especially Alexis, seem visually proud as they cheer him on.

When Alexis Needs a Hug (Season 2, Episode 6)

When Alexis Needs a Hug (Season 2, Episode 6)

After her breakup with Mutt, Alexis finally understands what it feels like to be in a substantial relationship; and how all the more it hurts to part ways with someone good. When Alexis asks David to hug her, he reluctantly holds her. Little does he know that he needed it just as much as her. This is the first instance where they are not afraid to let their guards down and fully emote with one another. Character development, ladies and gentlemen! Love this journey for them.

When Alexis Helps David Get out of His Head For His Driver’s License Test (Season 3, Episode 4)

When Alexis Helps David Get out of His Head For His Driver’s License Test (Season 3, Episode 4)

When David's in way over his head with apprehension as he goes in to take the driving license renewal test, Alexis tries to help and talk him off the ledge, but it somehow leaves him more overwhelmed than before. On their way back home, they have an honest heart-to-heart where David lays bare how much he genuinely worries and cares about Alexis, which undeniably makes Alexis grin with joy. If this doesn't accurately encapsulate the brother-sister cat-and-dog relationship, then what does!

When Alexis Helps David Secure an Important Business Vendor (Season 4, Episode 5)

When Alexis Helps David Secure an Important Business Vendor (Season 4, Episode 5)

As a resident world-adventurer who's had some foolproof negotiation skills under her belt, Alexis decides to tag along with David on one of his business meetings. As it turns out, the vendor is none other than Ted's new girlfriend, Heather. Alexis takes it in stride and helps David achieve exclusivity on Heather's products, despite being put on the spot. This alone should suffice to send her to the sibling's hall of fame.

When Alexis Is There For David (Season 5, Episode 6)

When Alexis Is There For David (Season 5, Episode 6)

As David entertains the possibility of sending Patrick out on a date with another guy (or "hottie boom body," as Alexis phrases it), Alexis feels the nagging obligation to be there for David and instantly drops her date night plans with Ted. As sweet as the gesture is, it is side-splitting seeing Alexis give David a 101 in the basic ground rules of an open relationship, followed by some mature pearls of wisdom. Hey, it's all about balance, after all!

09
When David Doesn’t Want to Leave Alexis in Charge of His Store (Season 5, Episode 10)

When David Doesn’t Want to Leave Alexis in Charge of His Store (Season 5, Episode 10)

It's no secret that Alexis isn't the most responsible person. So, when David has no choice but to leave Alexis in charge of the store to receive a package, he naturally dreads it. It is then he drops a delightful anecdote of Alexis killing not one, not two, but six healthy adult Tamagotchis back in the day. While they butt heads all the time, this one goes to show how much siblings won't let you live it down if you mess up. Super relatable.

When Alexis Unwittingly Wears a Wedding Dress to David's Big Day (Season 6, Episode 14)

When Alexis selflessly wouldn't let Stevie step down from her maid of honor duties, David offers her the next best job to give him away on the D-Day. When the day arrives, David is shell-struck to see Alexis decked in a gorgeous white wedding dress that didn't come with a veil but a headdress, mind you. In the most Schitt's Creek-y way, this adds to the impromptu surprises that the wedding day throws their way. But all's well that ends well as it turns out to be the most unconventionally beautiful ceremony where there was not a dry eye in the house. BRB as I give it yet another watch and bawl my eyes out like a bébé.
