Fans have been waiting for HBO's "Game of Thrones" prequel series, "House of the Dragon," ever since the network announced it back in 2019. On March 30, the network shared the show's release date, along with some brand-new photos from the series. The new crop of pictures include shots of the "House of the Dragon" cast.

The upcoming series is based off of George R. R. Martin's 2019 novel "Fire & Blood" and will focus on House Targaryen. Set hundreds of years before the events of "Game of Thrones", this prequel will chronicle the rise and fall of the troubled Targaryen dynasty. While we wait for the summer premiere, get an in-depth look at the series ahead.

Sign up for HBO Max now to watch "House of the Dragon" when it premieres on Aug. 21, 2022.
