Megan Thee Stallion Is Returning to Her Roots For Her Next Album: "[It's] Me Talking My Sh*t"

Between becoming the first woman rapper to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue, delivering a successful set at Lollapalooza, and snagging her first-ever Essence cover, 2021 seems to be the year of Megan Thee Stallion. With her recent success, the 26-year-old rapper is already focused on her next album. "I feel like [my new album] will be aggressive," she said as the cover star of Essence's September/October issue. "I feel like this project is definitely something very well thought out. This project is me talking my sh*t, getting back comfortable with myself, getting back to the Megan that was on the come-up."

No matter what she's doing, whether that's looking stunning on the cover of a magazine or freestyling on social media, Megan wants to be a better version of herself than she was before. "Every time I make a move, I'm like, 'OK, how can we be better than Megan last month? How can we be better than Megan last year?'" she added.

To become that next and better version of herself, Megan makes sure to only surround herself with those she can trust. "There are probably approximately four people around me on a daily basis," she shared. "I don't see a lot of people, I don't talk to a lot of people, because I feel like it's not good for me. I figured out that my personal space is what keeps me balanced and it's what keeps me centered."
