Joel (Jim Carrey) sadly discovers that his long-time girlfriend, Clementine (Kate Winslet), has no recollection of him or their relationship after she received a procedure to erase him from her memory. Heartbroken, Joel decides to undergo the same procedure and his memories of her gradually disappear. Despite this, Joel discovers that he still loves Clementine and fights to remember what they had together. Similar to Inception, the film explores themes of memory and how our emotions can play into how we remember our memories and perceive reality.
