Christopher Nolan's breakthrough film, Memento, earned the director his first Oscar nomination, for best original screenplay, and has since been selected by the Library of Congress to be part of the National Film Registry. Memento centers around main character Leonard Shelby (Guy Pierce), a man who is searching for the perpetrators that raped and killed his wife. This proves to be difficult, though, because Shelby suffers from short-term memory loss and the inability to retain new memories. Shelby's condition complicates his mission, but a series of Polaroid pictures could contain the clues he needs to get justice for his late wife.
