Three years after they released "Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino," the Arctic Monkeys dropped their seventh album, "The Car," on Oct. 21.
During an interview on the UK's "5 Live Breakfast" on Nov. 12, 2021, drummer Matt Helders confirmed that the album was "pretty much" done. "It was a bit disjointed how we had to do it, and there are bits to finish off, but yeah, it's all in the works," he explained, referring to complications caused by the pandemic. "[Our albums] always kind of pick up where the other one left off in a way. [The new sound] makes sense when you think about it in the context of the last record. But we always do try and do something a bit different."
The new album includes songs like "There'd Better Be a Mirrorball," "I Ain't Quite Where I Think I Am," and "Hello You."
