When the single Kat Ellis (Debra Messing) returns home for her sister's wedding, she does everything in her power to avoid pity from family and friends for not being in a relationship. In order to save her image and sanity, Kat's next best move is to hire a male escort, Nick Mercer (Dermot Mulroney) to be her date and pose as her boyfriend at the wedding. This plan backfires when the two click and begin to catch feelings for one another.
