The Trailer For "Money Heist: Korea" Teases Wealth, Politics, and Intrigue

"Money Heist" ("La Casa de Papel") may have come to an end with its fifth and final season, but rest assured, Netflix isn't leaving viewers high and dry following its uber-successful run: fans of the hit Spanish crime drama will be thrilled to learn that its Korean-language adaptation is soon coming to the streaming giant. With an influx of brilliant, quality South Korean content taking the world by storm, we're already counting down the days until we can binge "Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area."

The new Korean-language Netflix original series is written by Ryu Yong-jae, Kim Hwan-chae, and Choe Sung-jun, with Kim Hong-sun at the helm. The streamer released the show's latest trailer on June 2, teasing the crime of the century.

In "Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area," the thrilling story takes place just as North and South Korea face reunification. But before the two nations can print a new unified currency, a heist disrupts their plans. At the top of the ploy is Professor (played by Yoo Ji-tae), who assembles a crew of skilled thieves to steal the new currency and pull off a scheme that could go down in history as a "revolutionary crime."

The teaser revealed the actors behind the eagerly awaited series alongside their characters' aliases. The main cast of "Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area" is led by Yoo Ji-tae, who will step into the iconic role of Professor. Kim Yunjin will play Seon Woojin, and Park Hae-soo will take on the role of Berlin. The other cast members making up the extraordinary heist gang include Jun Jong-seo as Tokyo, Lee Won-jong as Moscow, Kim Ji-hun as Denver, Jang Yoon-ju as Nairobi, Lee Hyun-woo as Rio, Kim Ji-hoon as Helsinki, and Lee Kyu-ho as Oslo.

"Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area" Release Date

First announced by Netflix in December 2020, the streaming giant shared the first look at the Korean remake on Jan. 17 in a one-minute promo that showed off its cast members and official English title. On April 29, Netflix announced the official premiere date for the 12-episode series, which hits the streamer on June 24.
