The Most Anticipated Movies of 2023, From "The Marvels" to "The Color Purple"

Just in time for Christmas, the musical movie reimagining of "The Color Purple" will see Fantasia Taylor reprise her leading Broadway role as Celie, as the film follows the "extraordinary sisterhood of three women who share one unbreakable bond." Joining Taylor in the movie are Halle Bailey as Young Nettie, Phylicia Pearl Mpasi as Young Celie, Colman Domingo as Mister, Taraji P. Henson as Shug Avery, and Danielle Brooks as Sofia. The film reiteration, which follows Steven Spielberg's 1985 movie of the same name, is directed by Blitz Bazawule and produced by Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey, Quincy Jones, and Scott Sanders.
