The 19 Best Movies of 2023 So Far

Sofia Coppola's "Priscilla" is masterful. In under two hours, we meet Priscilla, brought to life by Cailee Spaeny, who plays her from age 14 to 28. Some critics have complained that we don't see more of the "real" Priscilla, but this is exactly the point — having met Elvis when she was a teen, he shaped her into the woman he wanted (until he didn't want her anymore). Jacob Elordi's Elvis is electrifying and menacing, upsetting the vision of Elvis that many fans have clung to. It's a gorgeous and heartbreaking film.
