The Room: Where Are They Now?
With James Franco giving a stellar performance as a mysterious, fascinating Tommy Wiseau in The Disaster Artist, everyone is rushing to re-watch the cult classic comedy, er, drama that the movie is based on: 2003's The Room. Curious as to what became of the real-life Tommy and Greg? Here's a glimpse into the shenanigans the cast of The Room has gotten into since filming.
Tommy Wiseau as Johnny
Tommy Wiseau Now
Getting his start as the producer, director, screenwriter, and star of The Room, Tommy Wiseau had quite a lot to live up to in his career following the cult classic film. Since then, he has appeared in a handful of other small productions, including movies like Best F(r)iends, Cold Moon and The Masterpiece. He also starred as himself in The Tommy Wi-Show, which was about him getting abducted by aliens.
He still won't reveal his age, although it is speculated to be somewhere in the sixties. While he has talked about being from Europe before living in New Orleans, Louisiana, he has not specified where.
Greg Sestero as Mark
Greg Sestero Now
Potentially the biggest star of the film, Greg Sestero continued acting on a small scale, but his biggest accomplishment of all was his best-selling book detailing the whole experience. The Disaster Artist was made into a mainstream movie, featuring James and Dave Franco, which is pretty damn cool.
Like his older, wise(au)r counterpart and best bud, he has also given writing and starring in a film a go. Sestero and Wiseau shared the screen one again, fifteen years later, in his film Best F(r)iends. Looks like those two dreamers are achieving their ultimate fame-status, right?
Juliette Danielle as Lisa
Juliette Danielle Now
Juliette Danielle was an up-and-coming actress when she scored the role of Lisa in The Room. Spending a lot of time hiding behind a thick, suffocating layer of shame (and an understandable one at that), she continues to act in titles like 'Til Morning, Ghost Shark 2: Urban Jaws, Dead Kansas, and IRL the Webseries.
She eventually stepped out of the shadows for some The Room-related shorts, like Have You Checked on Denny? and The Room Actors: Where Are They Now? She now lives back in her native Texas, and has a cute cat named Duffy.
Robyn Paris as Michelle
Robyn Paris Now
Subsequent to being in a movie with a god-awful script, Robyn Paris took what she knew, did better (which, I mean, wasn't all that difficult a task, but she is still super-talented), and has become a scriptwriter. She has written, directed, and produced a comedic, fictional take on what happened to her and her former costars in The Room Actors: Where Are They Now?
Philip Haldiman as Denny
Philip Haldiman Now
Haldiman went to land other roles in movies and shorts like An Uplifting Tale, Murder Inside Of Me, and The Overnight.
He relocated to Arizona, where he spent some time as a news writer for The Arizona Republic, and has also been writing his own comic book series called My Big Break. Do you think he still enjoys watching people? Hope not, for his sake.
Dan Janjigian as Chris-R
Dan Janjigian Now
Chris-R, aka Dan Janjigian (on the right), went on to other roles in Irangeles and Take Out following his infamous aggressive, drug-dealing persona. He has since quit acting, aside from appearing alongside his costars in The Room Actors: Where Are They Now? Oh, and in the most relatable tweet ever, he shared his disappointment about Zac Efron not sliding in his DMs. Boy, same.
Dan is now a man of business and marketing development, rising up in the ranks as a sales director of a well-known company in Austin, Texas.
Mike Holmes as Mike
Mike Holmes Now
Could any performance even compare to Mike Holmes making the funniest, most unexplainable o-face in The Room? I'm gonna have to go with a hard, definite no.
Despite that, Mike went on to earn a few more small roles in The Killing of Kings, Puppy Whistle, and The Chris Gethard Show: Public Access. Oh, and he was a zombie on The Walking Dead back in 2014! Hopefully he has gotten ahold of his underwears by now.
Carolyn Minnott as Claudette
Carolyn Minnott Now
Following her fictional upset of being on the brink of death and having no one care (relatable AF) as Claudette, Carolyn Minnott stopped acting altogether. Well, she did appear in The Room Actors: Where Are They Now? and the documentary made about the film, Room Full of Spoons.
She doesn't have a huge knack for social media, but we have no doubt that she is out there thriving and living her absolute best life right now.
Kyle Vogt as Peter
Kyle Vogt Now
Kyle has racked up a plethora of acting credits following his role as Peter in The Room, including Continuity, Fatty, Project X: The True Story of Power Plant 67, and Untold Stories of the E.R. Perhaps the most thrilling of all, back in 2013 he did an Old Spice commercial with superstar actor and pec contortionist Terry Crews. One time, Terry punched Kyle in the face - it was awesome.
He is still living in Los Angeles, and when he isn't acting, he might be geeking out on Dungeons & Dragons, or doing an AMA on Reddit.
