It's a great time to be a Star Wars fan, especially as details trickle out about the next phase of content from the 2023 Star Wars Celebration event in London. In addition to new seasons of "The Mandalorian" and "The Bad Batch" coming our way, brand-new series like "Ahsoka," "The Acolyte," and "Tales of the Jedi" have been announced to premiere on Disney+ soon. And now, the up-and-coming actors rounding out the cast of live-action series "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" have been introduced to the universe.

The series was previously confirmed at the 2022 Star Wars Celebration event in Anaheim, CA, with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni announcing "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew." The duo will serve as executive producers for the show along with "Spider-Man: Homecoming" collaborators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford.

On April 7, during the 2023 event, Disney confirmed the involvement of "Everything Everywhere All at Once" directors the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert) in the series, in addition to Bryce Dallas Howard and Lee Isaac Chung. All will direct episodes.

During the event, previously announced star Jude Law confirmed his longtime love for the Star Wars universe, saying, "I was like 6 years old when this galaxy gripped me . . . I've been in preparation ever since." A first-look image from the series was also shown to attendees.

Watts teased the show's plot during the 2022 Star Wars Celebration. According to Entertainment Weekly, he said, "It's a story about a group of kids, about 10 years old, from a tiny little planet who accidentally get lost in the Star Wars galaxy. And it's the story of their journey trying to find their way home." Watts added that centering the series on kids will offer fans a "different perspective" of the Star Wars universe that we haven't seen before.

However, Filoni made sure to emphasize that "Skeleton Crew" will be just as dark as the other Star Wars series. "It's as much of a kids' show as 'Clone Wars.' And I'm like, we cut people's heads off in 'Clone Wars,' so I'm not sure that's the best measure," he said.

During the 2023 Celebration, it was confirmed that the series will take place after "Return of the Jedi," the same time period in which "The Mandalorian" (pictured here) is set, Variety reported.

When Does "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" Take Place in the Star Wars Timeline?

"Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" is confirmed to take place around the same time as "The Mandalorian," "Ahsoka," and "The Book of Boba Fett," meaning it's set five years after "Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi." This period is significant because it's in between the fall of the Empire and the rise of the First Order.
