Star Wars Celebration: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Ahsoka

"Obi-Wan Kenobi"

"Obi-Wan Kenobi" hits Disney+ May 27, and the cast were at Star Wars Celebration ready to show the new series to the world. The panel began with a theatrical performance from a choir of the song "Duel of the Fates," the iconic music theme from the prequel trilogy that became a major hit. Then Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen took the stage, joined by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, "Obi-Wan Kenobi" director Deborah Chow, and their costars Moses Ingram and Rupert Friend.

"It was a pretty incredible honor to tell a new story with these characters at this point in their lives," Chow said of the series. Ingram joked, "I don't know how I finessed this." They also made the major announcement that the first two episodes of the show would premiere at Star Wars Celebration before hitting Disney+ on Friday.

McGregor previously said that he would love to do a second season of "Obi-Wan Kenobi," but there was no announcement about more episodes at the event.

"Andor"

Next came the presentation for the upcoming "Andor" series, starring Diego Luna as the title character. Luna, series creator Tony Gilroy, and actress Genevieve O'Reilly previewed the series alongside Kennedy. They made some major revelations about the show, including that it starts five years before the event of "Rogue One" and that it will have two seasons.

"The beauty of this show is there's no way they'll kill me," Luna joked. He also explained that this version of Andor will be quite different from the rebellion hero he'll ultimately become. "Andor" will be released Aug. 31.

"Willow"

Next, the company previewed the upcoming Disney+ series "Willow," a sequel to the 1988 fantasy film of the same name. Directed by Ron Howard, the movie was based on a story by George Lucas, who served as executive producer. Warwick Davis — best known for his work in the Star Wars movies — starred in the film as Willow.

The new series, Howard explained, follows three young women who try to track down Willow so they can use his magic and save the world. Ruby Cruz is Kit, a princess trying to save her twin brother. Erin Kellyman — who also starred in "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" — is Jade, a servant and Kit's best friend. And Ellie Bamber is Dove, a kitchen maid who's in love with Kit's brother. All three women plus Davis were there to screen the trailer for the series.

"The world needs you again, it needs your magic," one of the girls tells Willow in the trailer. "Willow" will stream on Disney+ starting Nov. 30.

Ahsoka

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni came out to briefly preview the upcoming "Ahsoka" series starring Rosario Dawson in the title role. The series is currently filming, so Dawson sent a brief video message in costume from set to greet fans. The show is set to premiere sometime in 2023.

The Mandalorian

Favreau and Filoni also previewed the third season of "The Mandalorion." Star Pedro Pascal will return as the title character, Din Djarin, alongside, of course, Baby Yoda. In the exclusive footage they screened at the event, Din is in hot water since he removed his helmet — a huge no-no in the Mandalorian order. He also clashes with Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze. "The Mandalorian" will return Feb. 23, 2023.

"Star Wars: Skeleton Crew"

Favreau and Filoni brought out Jon Watts and Chris Ford, who worked together on the Tom Holland "Spider-Man" movies. They previewed their new Star Wars series, currently in preproduction, and announced its title: "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew." The show, they explained, is about four 10-year-old kids from a small planet who get lost in the galaxy and try to find their way home. They emphasized that even though it features kids, it's not a kids' show. They also announced one member of the cast: Jude Law. The series is set to premiere in 2023.

John Williams and Indiana Jones

Last, Kennedy brought out composer Williams, who celebrated his 90th birthday in February. "His contributions to our films, to our storytelling experiences are something words cannot describe," Kennedy explained of the musician, who composed music for the nine core Star Wars films. Williams also composed a theme for Obi-Wan for the "Obi-Wan Kenobi" series, and he performed it for the first time with a live orchestra at Star Wars Celebration.

Then they performed the theme to Indiana Jones and were joined by none other than Harrison Ford. "It's a special honor for me to be able to congratulate John on his 90th birthday," Ford said. "I told John on another occasion when we had a chance together that music follows me everywhere I go. And you know what? I'm happy about it."

Ford announced that they've almost completed the new Indiana Jones movie, which will also feature Williams's music. He announced that it's set to be released on June 30, 2023.
