LaKeith Stanfield Falls Into a Nightmarish Journey in the "Changeling" Trailer

"The Haunted Mansion" star LaKeith Stanfield is continuing his spooky streak with another eerie project coming to Apple TV+ this fall. "The Changeling," a forthcoming drama executive produced by Stanfield, stars the Oscar nominee in an adaptation of Victor LaValle's best-selling novel of the same name. In it, Stanfield's character finds himself pulled into a peculiar, haunting journey after his wife goes missing following the birth of their son.

The streamer calls the series, created by Kelly Marcel and directed by Melina Matsoukas, "a fairytale for grown-ups." In addition to Stanfield, Megan Ellison, Patrick Chu, Ali Krug, Sue Naegle, and David Wolkis are also on board as executive producers, while Marcel serves as showrunner.

It seems Stanfield's latest TV role is imitating part of his personal life, as he recently welcomed his third child, his first with wife Kasmere Trice. The "Atlanta" actor is also set to star in "The Harder They Fall" director Jeymes Samuel's upcoming biblical feature "The Book of Clarence" as the titular character, per Deadline.

"The Changeling" Plot

Apple TV+ describes the mysterious series as "a horror story, a parenthood fable, and a perilous odyssey through a New York City you didn't know existed." It's unclear how much it'll resemble LaValle's fantasy horror book, but the novel tells the story of a rare book dealer named Apollo, whose life is turned upside down after his librarian wife Emma commits an act of violence and disappears.
