Watch The Nanny Cast Do a Virtual Table Read of Episode 1

The Nanny Cast Reunites More Than 20 Years Later For a Virtual Table Read of the Pilot Episode

The flashy girl from Flushing is back, and she brought the whole crew with her! In an ubernostalgic bid to entertain fans staying at home around the world, the cast of The Nanny reunited to stage a virtual table read of the iconic series's first episode. It may be more than two decades since the CBS sitcom went off the air, but the cast fell right into the rhythm and rhyme of their characters like the show just premiered yesterday. They even got Ann Hampton Callaway to sing the theme song she penned for the show!

The assembled cast features original stars Fran Drescher (Fran Fine), Charles Shaughnessy (Maxwell Sheffield), Daniel Davis (Niles), Lauren Lane (C.C. Babcock), Renée Taylor (Sylvia Fine), Nicholle Tom (Maggie Sheffield), Benjamin Salisbury (Brighton Sheffield), and Madeline Zima (Grace Sheffield), alongside guests Rachel Chagall (Val), Jonathan Penner (Danny), DeeDee Rescher (Dottie), and Alex Sternin (Eddie). In a statement to Variety, Drescher explained that the April 6 video was made in hopes of giving fans a lift.

"Laughter is the best medicine! So, in these challenging times, Peter and I thought, wouldn't it be great if we pulled together the original cast of The Nanny for a virtual read of the pilot?" she said, referring to the show's cocreator, Peter Marc Jacobson. "It's a once in a lifetime Pandemic Performance for our fans around the world who are currently stressing in isolation and could use a real upper! It sure has given each of us a lift and we hope it does for you as well."

We can confirm that they definitely accomplished their mission. Watch the virtual table read above for a nostalgic lift higher than any of Fran's legendary miniskirts or her ever-immaculate bouffant.
