This Woman Endured 33 Hours in Labor . . . Without an Epidural

We're nearing the end of term for three families, and it's time to make some decisions. In the 14th episode of 9 Months With Courteney Cox, we revisit Angelina and Andrew, teenagers exploring an open adoption and meeting with families. One potential couple mentions that they have an adopted biracial daughter. Being biracial himself, Andrew realizes that his child could live in a home where their sibling looks like them. Across the country, Jessie, a surrogate expecting triplets, prepares to endure the high-risk pregnancy and the effects it will have on her own family.

Meanwhile, Crissy's pregnancy finally reaches full term. Since experiencing a miscarriage, she's anxious about the delivery and possible complications. The doctor expects the delivery will be quick — four hours at most. The epidural wears off, and 33 hours later, Crissy gives birth to a baby boy, Max, weighing a whopping 9 pounds, 12 ounces.

"It's been successful, but success does not mean easy," Crissy says. "Even though we lost big, we're gaining big."
