Anna Faris Says She Needs to "Figure Out What the Purpose" of Marriage Is After 2 Divorces

Anna Faris just got extremely candid about all things related to marriage and her most recent divorce from actor Chris Pratt on an episode of Dax Shepard's podcast, Armchair Expert. After touching on how great of a marriage her parents had, Anna opened up about how she's not exactly sure how to feel about marriage after being divorced twice.

"We had an unbelievable marriage and we have a great friendship now," she said of Chris, with whom she shares her son, 5-year-old Jack. "And we love our son to death, and I'm really proud of that because I'm not sure I did that well the first time."

And while the Mom star admits that she totally gets the point of going through life with a partner, she's not so sure she believes in the relevance of a formal ceremony.

"I believe in partnership, I believe in companionship. I just don't know if I believe in the ceremony of a wedding necessarily," she said, adding, "I didn't ever have that need for like, 'This day is going to be about me,' because I get a few of those days [as an actress]."

Celebrity status aside, Anna also expressed the fact that if she's going to get hitched again, she needs to figure out the whole point of marriage in the first place, especially because she has a son involved in the equation.

"I need to figure out what the purpose is," she said. "Like, is it safety for your children? Is it convention? Is it so other people respect your relationship more? For me, I'm just not quite sure where it fits, especially when it feels so easy, of course, to get married and then there's the untangling in terms of the state being involved [in your decision to marry]."
