A 6-Month-Old Was Found Dead After Spending 9 Hours in a Hot Car in a Walmart Parking Lot

As the temperatures rise so do the number of deaths related to children being left in hot cars. Despite parents knowing the danger, this mistake has cost 27 babies, toddlers, and children their lives this year alone.

In the most recent case, witnesses flagged down officers in a Texas parking lot after a father returned to his car and found his 6-month-old son dead.

The unnamed dad is a Walmart employee, and according to the Helotes Police Department, he arrived at work around 6:15 a.m. The temperatures were in the low 100s when the dad found his dead son still in the vehicle at 3:12 p.m.

According to Helotes Police Captain Anthony Burgess, the father told officers that he forgot to drop the infant off at day care before going to work. Burgess said that emergency responders weren't able to save the baby and witnesses described the father becoming hysterical in the parking lot. The dad was then hospitalized after complaining of chest pains.
