Carey Hart knows how to nip parent-shaming in the bud well before it begins. The ex-motocross star and father to 6-year-old Willow and 18-month-old Jameson posted a photo to Instagram of him and his son on a jet ski with a caption that will definitely make haters think twice before leaving a comment.
"Jameson and I idling around yesterday in Ft. Lauderdale. Short ride since he was getting splashed and [wasn't] too stoked. Don't worry parent police, he is safe and I put him right back in his bubble when we were done."
Carey's candidness won over a lot of his followers, and soon enough the supportive comments quickly started funneling in. "Looking like a GREAT dad giving his son some actual LIFE that isn't a cellphone or video game. LOVE." Another person chimed in, saying that he shouldn't have to explain his parenting decisions to strangers: "Justifying yourself is not necessary. It's frustrating that every time you post a fun moment you have to say that you are being safe. It's possible to give kids fun experiences safely."
And just an FYI: according to the Coast Guard's recommendation, Carey is totally sticking to the rules. As per the guidelines, children need to weigh at least 18 pounds in order to safely board a boat or water vessel, ranging from sailboats all the way down to jet skis (normally, a child hits the weight minimum between 4 and 11 months old). Additionally, anyone 13 or younger should be wearing a snug life jacket at all times, just as Jameson is pictured.
