Meghan Markle's New Mom Quotes Couldn't Be More Relatable

Welcoming your first baby is an indescribable moment, but Meghan Markle managed to capture the essence of becoming a first-time mom perfectly.

Meghan and Prince Harry revealed their newborn son, Archie, to the world with a short, but sweet, photocall in St. George's Hall at Windsor Castle on Wednesday. During the adorable appearance, the pair answered a few questions from reporters about life as new parents, and their responses might just transport you back to the day you gave birth.

When asked what it's been like becoming a new mom, Meghan explained that "it's magic, it's pretty amazing," and added, "I have the two best guys in the world, so I'm really happy." She went on about Archie, saying, "He has the sweetest temperament, he's really calm and . . . he's just been a dream, so it's been a special couple days."

Magic. Happy. Amazing. A dream. Special.

What parent hasn't used those same words to describe the postpartum days? Yes, intimidating and confusing and exhausting are also appropriate adjectives, but magic is quite possibly the sweetest way to explain those first few hazy days and weeks of life with a newborn.

Sure, everyone's birth experience is different, but being in that postpartum fog, in awe of those tiny fingers and toes, madly in love with your firstborn, is a place that I'm sure many mothers can remember being. That place after the birth of your first child — which could have also been so many other things — is impossible to replicate and pretty hard to describe. Which is why Meghan's candid quotes about such a personal time, something we don't often see from the royal family, are all the more remarkable.

And for all the things about Meghan's postpartum appearance that are hard to comprehend (ahem, white dress and heels three days after giving birth), her words are a reminder that new moms everywhere, high-profile royals included, are bound by a truly incredible shared experience.
