Aside from the cracked, chapped, bloody, and bitten nipples, something beautiful happens during breastfeeding — and it isn't just that your body is nourishing your child. Your breast also has the power to make your fussy little one drift into a deep sleep, sometimes almost instantly!
While this snooze session doesn't happen every time you nurse, it's pretty amazing when it does. Watching your baby slip into a milk-drunk state as their eyes grow heavy with sleep is pretty empowering, and the Facebook page Breastfeeding Mama Talk completely gets the feeling. They posted a meme of a breastfeeding baby attempting to fight off sleep that said, "Being a mom is hard, but the moments when all I had to do was stick my boob in his mouth and he immediately passes out milk drunk. I feel like a freaking rock star!"
Many moms can attest to the power of the boob and shared photos of their own sleepy milk monsters drifting off while still latched on. These simple moments are more than just adorable — they are limited and should be cherished by mamas before their little ones enter their next feeding stage.
