Working Mom's Morning Fantasy vs. Reality
A Working Mom's Dream Morning vs. What It's Actually Like IRL
Do you start each day doing yoga in your underwear, or journaling in your journaling nook, or eating a wholesome farm-fresh breakfast with a tiny spoon?
Or do you start your mornings huddled under the covers, reading work emails before you even get out of bed, at which point you opt for dry shampoo over a shower so you can get your kids shuttled off to day care before you're inevitably late?
If it's the latter, welcome to reality. Sure, the dream is to be a real-life, walking Pinterest board, but the truth is, a real woman's morning has zero time for that.
In fact, the clever marketers for Organic Valley's new milk protein shake released a hilarious commercial based on an actual survey of 1,000 professional women, which found that:
- 57 percent are awake before the sun rises
- 82 percent choose to hit the "snooze" button instead of exercising
- 21 percent check their work email before getting out of bed
- 33 percent never even make their beds
- 48 percent would rather skip breakfast than coffee
- 53 percent have less than an hour between waking up and walking out the door
- 58 percent will swear at someone or something in the morning
And that last one? Seems kind of %$ing low to us. Watch the all-too-real ad, and prepare to feel a whole lot better about your manic Monday morning.
