Perhaps one of the most shocking ads ever shown during a Super Bowl, Nationwide's "Make Safe Happen" ad had viewers reaching for the tissues in 2015. The insurance company's ad showed a little boy being kissed for the first time, flying through the air, and surfing giant waves, before taking a shocking turn when the boy says that he never experienced any of those things because he drowned in a bathtub. The screen then flashes a scary statistic, "The #1 cause of childhood deaths is preventable accidents." Outcry over the ad was so strong that the company was forced to make a statement about it the day after it aired.
