10 Hilarious but Very Real Reasons to Celebrate the Sh*t Out of Your C-Section

If you're a C-section mom that had a different birth plan and was left feeling disappointed by the way you welcomed your baby into the world, you aren't alone. Chances are you were probably given advice on how to accept your sadness and move on, and while that can be healthy to do, I vote we celebrate first. C-sections are not "less than" or "the easy way out", and we shouldn't be made to feel that way. There are many moms who also want C-sections and schedule them in advance, which is totally OK, too! I, for one, came to feel so grateful for my C-section, because it was the only way my baby was coming out safely.

No matter what led you to have a C-section, you should celebrate how awesome and strong you are. And there are plenty of hilarious but very real reasons C-sections are kind of awesome. Keep reading for 10 of them, and be prepared to laugh, shake your head in agreement, and love the hell out of your body.

No Ice Packs
Disney

No Ice Packs

Nobody ever said having a C-section was comfortable, but at least you don't have to wear an ice pack in your underwear (and let's be honest, it isn't underwear . . . it's a diaper).

You'll Never Wonder If You Pooped on the Table
NBC

You'll Never Wonder If You Pooped on the Table

Especially if you're a first-time mom, being unable to control your bodily functions while summoning all of your energy to push out a baby can be a big concern. When you have a C-section, however, you're confident that there won't be a nurse swooping in to stealthily clean up the mess you left behind.

You Already Know You're Getting the Drugs

You Already Know You're Getting the Drugs

When you have a C-section, nobody will question your decision to get the pain meds. Even better, you'll never have to listen to your annoying aunt humblebrag about how she endured 30 hours of labor without medication. You also won't have to worry about those dreaded spinal headaches you've probably heard about.

You Don't Have to Deliver the Placenta
Fox

You Don't Have to Deliver the Placenta

Delivering your placenta is basically like giving birth twice, with the added bonus of your doctor putting all of his weight on your abdomen to help you push it out. During a C-section, they just take it right out along with the baby. Winning!

Nobody Expects You to Get Up and Walk Around a Few Hours Later
NBC

Nobody Expects You to Get Up and Walk Around a Few Hours Later

After a vaginal birth, your nurses will start bugging you to get up and move around within a few hours. Umm, what? You just produced a human life, everyone should be coming to you, right? Wrong. With a C-section, you won't be able to feel your legs for at least eight hours after delivery, so nobody will be asking you to go anywhere.

It Doesn't Burn When You Pee
Screen Gems

It Doesn't Burn When You Pee

Because your nether regions are more or less in tact after a C-section, you won't suffer the burning fires of hell when you get up to pee for the first time. Actually, because of that whole "no feeling in your legs" thing, you'll get a catheter and won't even have to get out of your bed to pee for at least half a day!

07
At Least You Don't Have Stitches . . . Down There
Universal Pictures

At Least You Don't Have Stitches . . . Down There

Yes, obviously you'll have stitches after your C-section, but at least you won't be having your lady parts stitched back together (or have to ask your significant other to inspect the healing situation of said stitches).

08
You Still Have Choices
Paramount

You Still Have Choices

On a more serious note, when you have a vaginal birth, you're faced with tons of choices like laboring positions, having your partner help deliver the baby, and the use of a mirror to watch the birth.

You may think you don't have many choices when you have a C-section, but hospitals are becoming more and more C-section-friendly all the time. Now, you have the option of a clear drape to watch your baby being born, immediate skin-to-skin contact, and even not having your arms strapped down to the operating table.

09
You Get to Be More Present During Birth
New Line Cinema

You Get to Be More Present During Birth

When you're in the throes of labor and delivery, all of your attention is on surviving the birthing process. During a C-section, you get to lie back and be present in the moment of your baby's birth. If you get your mind in the right place, watching your baby being born can truly be a calm and serene moment.

We All Get the Same Prize in the End

All kidding aside, birth is birth is birth. All of us moms work hard as heck to bring our babies into this world, no matter how we give birth. We should all be celebrating and celebrated for this amazing, beautiful, miraculous feat that our bodies have achieved.
