Republicans in congress cowering under their desks as violent men roam the hallways finally understand what they've put every school kid in America through.

There is certainly much at stake following these shameful events at the US Capitol. There's a push to remove President Donald Trump from office immediately, less than two weeks before President-elect Joe Biden assumes the role. There is a clear need to reconcile the white supremacy that allows for mostly white rioters to infiltrate a government building relatively unscathed while peaceful Black Lives Matter protestors were met with tear gas and thousands of arrests this summer. There is a lot to process here, and many would understandably argue that this incident isn't about gun control.
But perhaps this upswelling of tweets, Instagram posts, and TikTok videos of students educating our nation's lawmakers on how to properly survive an active-shooter incident will give us all a moment of pause before the once-unthinkable act happens yet again in their classrooms. Let's not forget about them. We have 12 days before they are forced to remember.
