Burberry Fall 2016 Collection

You'll Have a Fashion-Girl Freak-Out Over Burberry's New Bags

Burberry Fall 2016 Collection

How do you celebrate the end of an era? If you're Christopher Bailey, you do it by inviting all your favorite people to a private Jake Bugg concert and showing them some beautiful clothes. Burberry's Kensington Gardens show space was almost unrecognizable as it became a dark and dreamy salon, and we watched as models strutted in sparkly dresses with contrast godets, military-inspired full-length coats, patent trenches, multicolored snakeskin pieces, and grungy ankle boots. The boys didn't escape the sparkle, either — though only the bravest will try the sequin trousers (sport luxe for him).

As ever, it was a collection that paid homage to all things British, and this season things went even further than usual. Each new patchwork bag (a boxy little number with a big buckle and a wide strap) will be individual, with no two styles exactly the same. Each will be named after a street, town, or village in Britain. By recognizing people's nostalgia and patriotism, Bailey has done something special; we're sure you're already picturing that one-off bag named after the village or town you take a strong liking to.

Since Burberry moves to a new show schedule next season, this show was the final bow for the label as we know it at London Fashion Week. And a fitting bow it was. Only Burberry could make a show attended by 1,000 people feel this intimate and special!
