Michelle Obama's Peplum Top Might Not Be a Top at All

It's not unusual for Michelle Obama to inspire our shopping list. After all, she pretty much owns our dream wardrobe, full of cutout pieces, polished dresses, and a handful of Converse sneakers. But when the FLOTUS welcomed the 2016 US Olympic and Paralympic teams to the White House on Thursday, we immediately felt the urge to add to cart. The multicolored peplum top she wore as she stood next to Simone Biles checked all the right boxes — versatile, fun, totally on-trend — that we needed it in our possession right away.

The thing is, we're not entirely sure this shirt is available to shop. While multiple similar options exist online, Michelle's version looks a lot like a dress from DVF's Fall '16 presentation. Was this piece custom-made? Can we possibly belt the peasant version to look like Michelle's cool, ruffled style? Only time will tell. Scroll through to see the first lady's look from multiple angles, then shop what you need to almost steal her look while we wait for someone to tell us what's up.
