Why We Probably Won't See Another Balmain x H&M Collaboration From Olivier Rousteing

Olivier Rousteing is without a doubt one of the most influential designers of our time. We spot his sleek and sexy clothes on It models and icons alike, and when H&M released its Balmain collaboration, fast-fashion shoppers fought to get their hands on the pieces. Finally, everyone had a shot at joining the #BalmainArmy — and was able to dress just like a Kardashian-Jenner.

So considering all the success Olivier saw with his more affordable line, would he ever go for a round two? Sadly, no, the designer told us when we chatted with him at NYC's Balmain flagship. Keep reading to find out his explanation, along with the qualities all the women who wear his clothes possess.

On Whether or Not There's a Secret to Confidence

"I don't think it's a secret, I think it's a part of yourself," Olivier said. "I believe fashion is about being cool. It's about having this attitude or just cool factor. To be cool, I think you just have to believe in yourself. It's not the easiest thing to do, actually. It's really hard to be confident. But when you are and you're not afraid to be who you are, I think that's the biggest thing that I love, and you are a part of the Balmain army. Just be proud of yourself and don't doubt."

"It's part of my inspiration. As I say, Balmain Army is all about diversity: different ages, different shapes, different backgrounds, different kinds of colors. So it's an inspiration as well to make sure that I can dress Kim [Kardashian], I can dress Rihanna, I can dress Beyoncé, I can dress Cindy Crawford. This is what I love about my collection — to dress all different kinds of women."

"For now, I don't have any collaborations in mind," Olivier admitted. "But who knows? I really believe that the success of H&M was so great, so amazing. But I also believe it was so amazing because it was once. I don't want to repeat too much. I think once in your life you can have access to this brand if you can't afford it. But I will make sure that we will find another way. Because so many people are supporting me with my social media, saying that they can't afford [the clothes], so I will make sure that at one point, we find another way."
