Yeezy Season 5 Fashion Show
Kanye West's Yeezy Show Was Full of Hidden Messages, If You Can Spot Them
It wouldn't be a Yeezy show without a little controversy. Kanye West had a misunderstanding with the CFDA early on in Fashion Week, but the situation was quickly resolved and the designer went on his way to show the line's fifth season in collaboration with Adidas.
The show started around 3 p.m. at Pier 59 in New York City, and although signs specified no photos or social media, some guests still managed to sneak in snapshots of the outfits and the pitch-black runway. Common themes ran through out the collection — denim, a first for Yeezy; duffle bags; and athleisure pieces. Jackets read "Calabasas," giving a nod to Kim and Kanye's neighborhood while oversize hoodies reading "Lost Hills" reportedly point at a future joint album from Kanye and Drake. The artist also introduced a new sneaker (the runner), which everyone will likely be after, and the focus was on shearling outerwear that could be worn with anything.
Judging from the photos and audience responses ahead, the show was tamer than last season's and full of hidden messages.
